Meet Our Founders
The Detroit Creativity Project was founded in 2011 by a group of working artists who have strong ties to Detroit. All have a common mission - to give back to Detroit's young people and make sure they have the same opportunity to succeed. Their vision has been the launch pad for our partnerships today with schools and other nonprofit organizations working with young people in Detroit and neighboring cities.
They are:
Phredley Brown / Musical Director and Lead Guitarist for Bruno Mars
Larry Joe Campbell / According to Jim, ABC
Joshua Funk / Artistic Director, Second City Hollywood
Nyima Funk / Undercover Cupid, NickMom and Whose Line is it Anyway?, The CW
Marc Evan Jackson / Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fox and Parks and Recreation, NBC
Keegan-Michael Key / Key & Peele, Comedy Central
Maribeth Monroe / The Brink, HBO and Workaholics, Comedy Central
Joel Veenstra / Associate Head of Stage Management, University of California, Irvine
Jordan Vogt-Roberts / Director, Kong: Skull Island and The Kings of Summer
Marc Warzecha / Associate Artistic Director, Second City Hollywood Training Center
We’re on a mission to make sure all children in Detroit have the opportunity to succeed. Please join us.
